School to School support is identified as one of the key components of the Teaching School initiative. As a Teaching School Alliance we work with other schools to support specific areas as requested and help with any aspect of school development or improvement. We offer a whole spectrum of support available to primary, secondary and special schools. School to school support is not a “one size fits all” and we work with you to tailor that support to the needs of your school and circumstances. Our primary function is to deploy and broker support from Specialist Leaders of Education (SLEs), National Leaders of Education (NLEs) and Local Leaders of Education (LLEs).
SLEs are outstanding teachers, members of senior management teams with at least 2 years proven experience in their chosen specialism. SLEs work with other schools on an area/areas the matched school have addressed for improvement. SLE deployments are used to provide short or long term support to subject leaders, to address teaching and learning priorities for teams or individuals, to deliver staff meetings, twilights and inset days or address whole school improvements/initiatives.
Local leaders of education (LLEs) have made and continue to make a significant contribution to supporting schools since the programme was introduced in 2008. LLEs provide a range of school-to-school support and coaching and mentoring for head teachers.
NLEs are strong school leaders, who have experience of effectively supporting schools in challenging circumstances. NLEs work alongside teaching schools and other system leaders to provide high quality support to those who need it most.
