Strong Partnership

Our high focus on best practice and generic teaching skills includes thorough grounding in special educational needs and vulnerable pupils. This will ensure that all pupils learn as well as they possibly can across all phases and schools.

Following 12 months of development and planning of a strong partnership with nine other schools the application to the National College for Teaching and Leadership (NCTL) was successful.

High Quality

Teaching Schools are outstanding schools that work with a team of other schools to provide high-quality school to school support through training and development for experienced as well as new school staff. They also train and develop the new work force of teachers and support staff and provide support to schools facing challenges.

They are part of the government’s plan to give schools a central role in raising standards through school centred training and development.

Outstanding Success

The criteria to apply to become a Teaching School was very high, including the lead School being an outstanding school with a proven record of showing excellent leadership and school improvement over several years.

The South and West Norfolk Teaching School Alliance (TSA) called ENCOMPASS was initiated by Karin Heap, Headteacher at Chapel Road School

Generally the funding is:

Year 1: £60,000

Year 2: £50,000

Year 3: £40,000
Year 4: £40,000

Encompass :: The First Year

Further develop and grow Initial Teacher Training with our partners at SNITT and UEA. We already offer School Direct Salaried (SDS) places and hope to include School Direct Non-Salaried (SDnS) and PGCE coursed from September 2015.

Offer a range of Continual Professional Development (CPD) through courses and Joint Practice Development (JPD) Programmes. Courses will include the Headteacher Support Programme (HSP) and training for Special Educational Need Coordinators (SENCOs) as well as direct support and training by sharing good practice between schools.

Use the skills and expertise within our team of schools to support other schools. We will develop and deploy our team of System Leaders (experienced school leaders) and Local Leaders of Education (LLE) and Specialist Leaders in Education (SLE) to provide tailor made support to other schools.
